The Academy operates under the umbrella of a mission-aligned 501(c)(3) partner through a formal memorandum of understanding — with clean governance, defined brand and IP terms, and independent financial oversight, structured with counsel.
The Academy was founded by the principals of an operating Southern California general contractor, with decades of combined experience in construction and in food, beverage & hospitality operations — and the industry relationships to place every graduate.
Curriculum design, learning outcomes, assessment, and instructor development are architected by an education leader holding a doctorate in education (Ed.D) with 20 years of food & beverage management experience and a deep background in the education sector.
Courses are taught by working professionals: senior construction field staff — superintendents, foremen, licensed tradespeople — and experienced chefs and hospitality managers. People who do the work teach the work.
Employers and operators, educators, architects and engineers, workforce-development professionals, and community organizations advise the Academy — keeping curriculum matched to real openings and outcomes accountable to the community.
Construction & Skilled Trades and Hospitality & Food Service each run their own program tracks, employer consortium, and per-cohort outcome reporting — completions, credential pass rates, placement, and 90-day retention.
Every program is designed around nationally recognized, independently verifiable credentials — delivered under the standards of the bodies that govern them, so a Legacy Work Academy graduate's qualifications hold up anywhere.
Certificates of attendance don't change lives — portable, verifiable credentials do. Every standard above is recognized by employers and regulators independently of the Academy, which means graduates carry their qualifications with them for the rest of their careers.
